About Full Score

Music resists tidy measurement.

We speak confidently about technical aspects of music, yet much of what gives music its power defies simple comparison. Full Score was designed to explore that tension.

Full Score is an expandable series of card games devoted to musical repertoire. Each edition focuses on a particular area of music and presents a curated selection of works assessed across a set of structured comparative categories. Some values are objective. Others reflect informed musical judgement. A few are deliberately open to debate.

The aim is not to reduce music to numbers, but to use comparison as a starting point for conversation. Full Score rewards knowledge and instinct in equal measure. It can be played competitively, but it works just as well as a prompt for discussion in rehearsal rooms, classrooms, common rooms and over a drink after Evensong.

Every card includes a QR code linking to a recording, encouraging players to move easily from abstraction to listening. The music itself remains central.

Full Score is conceived as a continuing series. Individual decks can stand alone, but are also designed to be compatible and combined, allowing the repertoire to expand over time.

Designed and produced in the UK, Full Score reflects a belief that musical knowledge should be rigorous, playful and shared.

Full Score is published by imprimis.uk, an independent digital publishing house founded by Richard Shakeshaft and devoted to musical scholarship and creative projects within the choral tradition.
